--  THE LIES THAT BIND --

This show was very special for me. It was all because for the first time I have attended such an inspiring show in London. Beyond that, the philosophy behind the collection has inspired me as a graduate student of philosophy. It showed me how I can harmonize philosophy and fashion with which I am in love both. The designer touched on very important realities that we take for granted and accept without any questioning.

Do we really make our own decisions freely? We are supposedly "modern people" and we think that we are living in a free world; there is no obstacle and restriction that can prevent us unlike the hindrances that existed centuries ago. Today we live in an unprecedently developed world. Everything has changed and improved dramatically. Have we really made progress as much as we think we did? Do we live in a free world? Are we able to choose our own path individually without guidance? Rules may not seem to be obvious as they were used to be. But it doesn't mean there are no more rules. We do still have politics, politicians and rule makers. Additionally, they have their powerful allies like media more than ever before. This collection got us ask all these questions.

As its designer said "There is a layer, a veneer on life that we are not meant to see through. In order to make them to transparent he made a reference with adding transparent materials to classic items like trench coats and other outerwear against to lack of transparency within policy, politics, and media."

Moreover, there were additional elements of interchangeable text on the clothes which can be seen or read in various ways depending on from which angle you are looking at. As the designer has pointed out, "the wearer sees fit, alluding to the fact that society accepts or resists what media fed, generally changing our perspective based on what suits our personal circumstances at that point."

Additionally, he added some deconstructed elements of the garments exist via referencing divisions in society, bound by industry which overpowers and holds everything together. Side panels are opened in the construction process-held together via industrial straps that can be loosened or tightened at the wearers' behest....
